Did you know poor oral health could lead to a variety of dental and medical problems including gum disease and infection, bone loss, and even heart disease? Regular dental check-ups and cleanings can prevent problems like these from occurring.

We recommend having your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a year in order to maintain optimal oral health.

Zoom!® FAQ'S

Is Zoom!® whitening safe?

Yes!  Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that teeth whitening under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In fact, many dentists consider whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available.

Will my insurance cover procedure?

No. The Whitening treatment is considered a cosmetic procedure and therefore, is not covered.

What is Zoom!® teeth whitening?

Zoom is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin.

How long does Professional Zoom!® whitening take?

The complete procedure takes about an hour. We begin with a preparation period, where your gums and lips are carefully protected. Followed by three 15 minute sessions of whitening. A fresh layer of Zoom whitening gel is reapplied after each 15 minute session.

What kind of results can I expect after Zoom whitening?

It’s not uncommon to achieve results 6-10 shades lighter. It depends on what type of stain you have, your doctor will discuss more with you during your check-up.

It’s been more than 4 months since my last cleaning. Can I still get the whitening?

For best results its very important that teeth are free of any plaque and calculus. The teeth whitening gel cannot penetrate through plaque build-up. This is why we feel very strongly about performing a thorough exam and cleaning before Zoom whitening. If you wish to wait a few months before coming in for your check-up we should be able to extend the offer for you, we can even call you to remind to schedule an appointment.

How long do the Zoom whitening results last?

By following the instructions we provide you, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. We suggest to do touch-ups every few months either with custom made touch-up trays or crest white strips

Are there any side effects following Zoom whitening?

Sensitivity during the treatment may occur with some patients. We supervise your treatment at all times, patients are given a bell to ring in case they start having sensitivity. As long as we catch sensitivity early there should not be much discomfort afterwards.

All Services

Specialty Dentures

A denture is a removable appliance for missing teeth and gum tissues. It is made of a processed acrylic base with customized teeth. A complete denture replaces most or all of your teeth and a partial denture replaces one tooth or only a few. Dentures help improve chewing ability, and provide support for your facial muscles. A partial denture is also important to stabilize your teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position or become damaged.

Children's Dentistry

We welcome children and cater to their needs to make their experience as fun and positive as possible. Our goal is to make children feel comfortable in the dental environment and we are happy to do so. We will educate both the child and caregiver on how to properly care for their teeth by reviewing the correct at home routine including brushing and flossing techniques, in order to head down the right path of a healthy happy life long smile. Visual aids and a prize at the end will be used to make their experience a fun one.

Sealants

Sealants are a painless and simple way to protect your child’s teeth.  Our back teeth, molars and premolars, often have deep pits and grooves that catch a lot of food and bacteria and can be difficult to keep clean. Sealants are thin, clear plastic coatings painted on the chewing surface of these teeth to create a tooth surface that is smoother to keep food particles and bacteria out of the grooves, preventing decay from occurring in these areas.

Fillings

Dr. McDonald uses composite or white fillings for teeth that have decay, are cracked, broken, chipped, or worn down. These natural looking fillings help to keep your smile a beautiful one. A composite filling is completed in one visit, with the proper protocol:

Proper oral hygiene of brushing and flossing, along with regular professional teeth cleaning appointments, continue to be important following restorative treatment in order to stay on the path of prevention.

Bonding

Cosmetic bonding is made of the same material as a composite filling. It is used on the front surface of a tooth to improve the appearance of the tooth. Dr. McDonald treats his patients with cosmetic bonding when they are unsatisfied with one or more of their teeth and cosmetic resin can be applied to improve their smile. Cosmetic bonding can be used to fix discolored, broken, or even crooked teeth. This treatment improves the aesthetics of these damaged teeth, by placing white composite resin over the facial aspect of the tooth to maintain a beautiful white smile.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are used to replace part of a tooth that has been damaged or decayed. The material used for the crown can be either porcelain or gold, depending on patient preference. Porcelain-fused to gold crowns are also used for aesthetic purposes. Crowns are a great way to improve your bite and restore tooth function.

Bridges are used to fill spaces where a tooth should or used to be. It is important to fill these spaces, because if they are left empty it leaves room in your mouth for your teeth to shift. A bridge uses the two teeth on either side of the empty space as anchors, which holds the false tooth in the space that was once empty. The material used is porcelain, so your bridge will keep your smile aesthetically pleasing.

Insurance

Most dental insurance plans accepted. Please call if you do not see your plan listed here.
